Continuing our series of posts by travel couples, to determine who does what when it comes to travel organisation, today we see what is happening with Jeff and Marina from Latitude 34. We asked each couple a number of questions and each week we are putting up the responses to see who does what in organizing the travels. So far, we have shown “Who’s the boss?” here at Contented Traveller. Then we put David and Veronica from GypsyNesters to the test, followed by Mike and Luci of 1000 Places to Fight before you die.

Today we find out

“Who’s the boss” at Latitude 34?

Marina and Jeff created Latitude 23. They say that “In March of 2013 we decided to embark on an epic journey, leaving behind our family and friends to fulfill our life’s dream of travel and photography. Our designation: Phuket, Thailand. With only a few carryon bags and our cameras in hand, we began our life long journey filled with excitement.

As we start this next chapter of our lives together, we will use this space to look forward from this point on both creatively and personally. No old photos, thoughts, mind frames or perceptions. From here on out this space will hold our thoughts, creative expressions, triumphs and struggles as an artistic couple exploring the world together.

Traveling means something different to everyone. For us it meant leaving our jobs, our families, our friends and everything we know as we set off for the other side of the globe to start of the next chapter of our lives. As photographers, we hold our cameras close and as a couple, each other closer as we navigate through this crazy life. As the road rises up to meet us we hope you’re somewhere along it and can join us in the adventures, experiences and memories of our road less traveled”.

So, “Who’s the boss?” at Latitude 34?

Jeff and Marina of Latitude 34 try to balance the work load but there are certain areas where they both focus their time and energy on. While Jeff is constantly working with clients, destinations and their social media, Marina is working hard to make sure that they have their bills paid, taxes organized and other important things that allow them to fully embrace the nomadic lifestyle.

They both decide where to go as, “We have never met a place we wouldn’t go, so safe to say we are both up for anything and can leave anytime.” They go whenever they like since  “ We’ve worked to create a lifestyle that allows us to work from anywhere, so bring it on!”

Jeff tends to take care of the flights, stopovers, transport and accommodation. Marina however is “the queen of packing and planning, while Jeff just waits until the last minute”. She also  is “usually on top of making sure to have some of the local currency.”

As Marina and Jeff are living the nomadic lifestyle they don’t need to worry about leaving the house neat though Marina does take care of the inevitable bills and bureaucratic duties as well as letting family know of their plans.

As technology is  “of huge importance to us both so we are pretty on top of it!”

Marina says that “ Jeff is quite addicted to being in constant contact with any destination we are going to, even if he goes a bit overboard with it haha”.

So, “Who is the boss?” at Latitude 34? As Jeff and Marina say “It would be hard to pick just one, as we both work hard to make sure we can continue to travel while making sure all of our responsibilities are met – a real team effort!”

I agree with Jeff and Marina, Latitude 34 is a real tem effort.
