“W” has proven a little tricky when it comes to a country starting with W in the A to Z Blog Challenge. Wallis and Futuna are strictly speaking a French colony. These islands are located in the Pacific and part of both the Polynesian and the Melanesian groups. They are not big players on the world travel scene ‘by choice’. Information on the islands is scant but seems to indicate that they enjoy their traditional way of life that comes with the fringe benefits of a French government providing them enough money to enjoy the modern trappings of society. I would however imagine that it would be a really interesting place to visit.

Another choice was Wales but as this is not a country but part of the UK I had to eliminate it. I would love to have talked about their beautiful lilting accents, their fabulous choirs and their very long place names.

The other choice was Western Sahara but it is in the throes of a forever battle and has so many issues that it is not, for the sake of this challenge. a choice.

So here we go with my “W” post.
